Most members of Congress do not release their own tax returns to the public

Rep. Richard Neal, Democrat-Mass., Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, who demanded to see President Trump’s tax returns, hasn’t released his own. New England Public Radio…asked 5 separate times for Neal’s tax returns, and the Congressman refused each time. -washingtontimes.com. 4/9/19.

Mr. Neal is “the top tax law writer in the country.”- washingtontimes.com. 4/9/19. Mr. Neal receives financial support from top tax avoidance companies like General Electric, Caterpillar, Tyco and Price Waterhouse Coopers. -prospect.org. 1/15/19.

Mr. Neal became Chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee 1/3/19. He’s been a Rep. for Massachusetts since 1/3/89. In 2018, Mr. Neal’s cash contributions, mostly from Insurance, Pharmaceutical, Defense, Healthcare Industries, more than doubled over previous years; raising over $3.5 million in 2018 alone.- opensecrets.org.

It was reported on 6/26/2017, Roll Call “sent requests to every member of Congress asking them to release their tax returns.”- media.cq.com. 6/26/17. “We followed up 3 times, and 37 out of 530 members responded. Only 6 said yes, another 6 already released their returns somewhere else.”- media.cq.com. 6/26/17.

Meanwhile, on January 4th, 2019, Nancy Pelosi introduced a bill to force Presidents, but not members of Congress, to release their tax returns.-cnsnews.com. 1/6/19. According to Roll Call, Nancy Pelosi, has not released her tax returns.- cnsnews.com. 1/6/19.

Conclusion: Aside from the fact that experts agree “there is no law requiring President’s to release tax returns.”- rollcall.com. 5/6/19. Aside from the fact that President Trump had repeatedly stated his taxes are being audited and will not release his returns while they are under audit. -axios.com. 4/10/19. Aside from the fact that Treasury Sec. Mnuchin had stated “The House Committee’s request (for Trump’s taxes) lacks a legitimate legislative purpose,” In spite of all these legitimate reasons, Nancy Pelosi insisted: “President’s do not have a right to privacy when it comes to their tax returns.”- cnsnews.com. 1/6/19.

And she does? And most of Congress does? Therefore the same requirements should be held to all members of Congress, all Supreme Court Judges as they asked our President. This same “right to privacy” that Congress now enjoys, has enabled members of Congress to become extremely wealthy; to circumvent laws made for ordinary citizens are not applied/ enforced against members of Congress; have allowed them to legally take advantage of insider trading information; have allowed them to make payoffs of millions of dollars in a Congressional slush/ hush fund to victims of Congressional sexual predators; have allowed them to serve with no term limits.

When do the rights of WeThePeople become more important than than our elected members of Congress? / Done

I started out a little nothing on Twitter 5 years ago. I always had a love for research, writing, digging for the truth. My very first writing class in Queens College, after I wrote my first paper, my Professor wanted to talk to me after class. Before I even sit down in her office, she says to me: “You’re very talented.” I said thank you, I appreciate that, but I’m also a practical kid. I knew pursuing writing out of college wasn’t a guaranteed job, so I became a Pharmacist. Now, as a Pharmacist for 44 years and an owner for 30 years, I now can devote time to my passion. My very first threaded tweet on Twitter was a hit, about how Sonny Bono was murdered, because even as a kid, I never believed that story that he died by slamming into a tree while skiing. It got a great response on Twitter and motivated me to do more research and writing. I was suspended from Twitter, but I always wrote on paper before writing on Twitter, and kept all my writings. I developed Thawts.net and took almost a year to rewrite everything onto my site. Now, anything I write is new stuff and about any subject of my choice. I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing. Sincerely, Harvey Staub 👍🇺🇸

  1. lol@Pelosi’s tax returns. Only way you are gonna get that old Crypt Keeper to give you her tax returns…never mind she will never hand those over. We are supposed to be her employer. One would think we could have access to how she pays taxes on our money. hahahaha never gonna happen.

  2. They go in average and end up millionaires. They could care less about the people their constitutes, only themselves.
