Russia, NATO and peace agreements

“The Kremlin (Russia) claims the west broke a promise it made in the 1990’s not to expand NATO”….”at a time westerners were offering ”guarantees” spoken of by Putin, no one could have predicted the collapse of the U.S.S.R. (December 26,1991) and the historic upheavals that followed.”…”In addition, these promises were made orally and were never recorded in a treaty….the turning point of NATO enlargement came much later, in 1995, at the request of the Eastern European countries.”- Oliver Kempf, Associate researcher at the Foindation for Strategic Research.

“The Russians find it difficult to accept NATO enlargement, but they forget that they signed a document called the NATO-Russian Founding Act in 1997, through which they become partners and committed to guaranteeing peace and security in the Euro-Atlantic area as well as the territorial integrity of all member states.”- Amelie Zima, Doctor of Political Science at the Pantheon-Assas in Paris.

“One of the main rules of NATO is that member countries must have solved all their border issues so as not to integrate a new crisis factor into the organization. With the continuing conflict in Crimea, Donbas, it is unlikely Ukraine would be able to join NATO,” said Kempf. / France24.com. 1/30/22.

Conclusion: There never was any written agreement between NATO and Russia, forbidding NATO expansion. There was a written agreement between NATO and Russia in 1997, with the NATO-Russia Founding Act, that guaranteed peace and security in the areas covered. There also was the Budapest Memorandum of 1994, that guaranteed Russia would not invade Ukraine, since Ukraine was surrendering their nuclear arsenal. At the time, one-third of all nuclear weapons in the world. There were assurances from Russia, The United States and The United Kingdom. Both written guarantees of peace have been broken by Russia. / Done

I started out a little nothing on Twitter 5 years ago. I always had a love for research, writing, digging for the truth. My very first writing class in Queens College, after I wrote my first paper, my Professor wanted to talk to me after class. Before I even sit down in her office, she says to me: “You’re very talented.” I said thank you, I appreciate that, but I’m also a practical kid. I knew pursuing writing out of college wasn’t a guaranteed job, so I became a Pharmacist. Now, as a Pharmacist for 44 years and an owner for 30 years, I now can devote time to my passion. My very first threaded tweet on Twitter was a hit, about how Sonny Bono was murdered, because even as a kid, I never believed that story that he died by slamming into a tree while skiing. It got a great response on Twitter and motivated me to do more research and writing. I was suspended from Twitter, but I always wrote on paper before writing on Twitter, and kept all my writings. I developed Thawts.net and took almost a year to rewrite everything onto my site. Now, anything I write is new stuff and about any subject of my choice. I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing. Sincerely, Harvey Staub 👍🇺🇸

  1. Of course Russia would break their word because that’s who they are, liars! No one has ever believed their sincerity towards the 1994 Budapest Memorandum.
